About Tuningi Safari Lodge:
Set in a tranquil valley on the western side of the Big 5 Madikwe Game Reserve, the exclusive Tuningi Safari Lodge provides the perfect setting for a 5 Star African safari experience.
The beautifully appointed thatched lodge is located overlooking an active waterhole and an expansive wooden deck, which encompasses the reception and main lodge area, provides incredible wildlife viewing at the waterhole- as does the sparkling rim-flow pool! The lodge features beautiful indoor and outdoor lounge areas,a dining room, veranda and well-stocked bar with a large, contemporary fireplace- perfect to keep the winter chill at bay! The elephants are regular visitors to the lodge and guests may even find themselves enjoying a swim in the pool at the same time that an elephant decides to have a refreshing drink of nice, clean pool water! The wooden deck leads to a traditional outdoor boma situated under an ancient sprawling Fig Tree, from which Tuningi derives its name.This boma deck also offers incredible views of the waterhole and is perfect for outdoor dinners around a blazing log fire.
The lodge accommodates 16 guests in 4 spacious Luxury Suites and 2, two-bedroomed Family Suites. The air-conditioned suites are beautifully appointed, spacious and all feature private viewing decks- complete with plunge pools- offering breathtaking views of the surrounding African wilderness.
Activities include twice-daily game drives, led by experienced guides, within the wildlife-rich Madikwe Game Reserve. The ability to go off-road in open 4×4 safari vehicles ensures really up-close-and-personal sightings of big game, and the guides willingly share their knowledge of, and passion for, the wildlife and bushveld with their guests. An underground photographic hide, perched just metres away from the edge of the waterhole, is the ideal spot to get really close up to visiting wildlife and offers excellent photographic opportunities for photography enthusiasts.
In between safari activities, guests can enjoy unwinding with a relaxing spa treatment while the children are entertained. For those who choose to work out, the gym blends into the surrounding bush and they have the opportunity of viewing wildlife while they build up a sweat. As night sets in, lanterns and candles are lit, and guests can anticipate a delicious dinner served in the boma, under the stars, with a blazing log fire to keep them warm.
For couples looking at tying the knot,Tuningi provides a romantic and stunning setting for wedding ceremonies- which take place on a “koppie” (hill) overlooking the northern part of the magnificent Madikwe Game Reserve. Rooms:
The lodge accommodates 16 guests in four spacious, stand alone Luxury Suites and two Family Suites, all set nicely apart from each other to provide ultimate privacy and peace, and offering incredible views from a private wooden deck built around a splash pool.
The 4 thatched Luxury Suites are light, spacious and tastefully decorated with a Colonial African- chic theme. The air- conditioned rooms have massive aluminium feature windows and are equipped with King-size beds, and the large, modern en-suite bathrooms feature his and hers basins, a luxurious double bathtub, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Wi-fi is available in each suite.
Private wooden decks with a splash pool offer the perfect place for guests to relax and enjoy the serenity of the surrounding bush.
The 2 thatch and timber Family Suites offer the same comforts and finishes of the Luxury Suites and are made-up of two en-suite double bedrooms and a comfortable living room- perfect for families requiring a little more space.
The rooms feature a comfortable King-size bed in one room and twin beds in the second bedroom. The expansive viewing deck has deck chairs in which guests can relax and appreciate the surrounding beauty, and the sunloungers next to the private plunge pool are the perfect place to simply soak up the sun.
