About Tau Game Lodge:
Tau Game Lodge is a luxury safari lodge situated in North West Province, in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve- in relatively close proximity to Gauteng, the Pilanesberg National Park and Sun City.
27 major species of game- including the Big 5 (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino)- roam Madikwe Game Reserve, making Tau Game Lodge the perfect destination for an authentic African safari family getaway, as well as a superb venue for conventions and weddings.
The lodge is situated in the extreme north-western corner of Madikwe, in the spectacular rugged beauty of the Great Marico bushveld and overlooks an immense waterhole, which attracts a huge diversity of birds and wildlife.
Designed to blend in with its beautiful surroundings, the stone and thatch main lodge features comfortable lounges and social areas, including a game viewing lounge from where guests can enjoy a daily parade of amazing wildlife, from the Big 5 to smaller antelope and birds, passing through. A nearby bar, situated in close proximity to the sparkling infinity pool, allows for guests to meet after evening game drive and share stories of exciting wildlife encounters before they head off to enjoy a mouthwatering dinner served either in the dining area or under the stars, in the traditional boma alongside a roaring campfire.
Guests can indulge in delicious buffet breakfasts and lunches in the dining area or out on the verandah, with its stunning views of the waterhole.
Tau Game Lodge can accommodate up to 60 guests in 30 upmarket air conditioned chalets: twenty Standard and six Deluxe Chalets, one Family Unit, and one Family Suite.
The rustic,thatched chalets are spread out on either side of the main lodge and offer panoramic views of the active waterhole.Each beautifully appointed chalet features African- inspired decor, comfortable furnishings, en-suite bathrooms with an outdoor shower, and a private viewing deck. They are all equipped with both air conditioning and ceiling fans, mini-bars, and tea and coffee facilities.
Tau Game Lodge’s enthusiastic and experienced guides accompany guests on morning and evening game drives in open safari vehicles, and willingly share their extensive knowledge and passion for the African bushveld. Guided bush walks may be arranged and offer guests the opportunity to appreciate the smaller creatures found in the bush. In between safari activities, guests can soak up the sun by the sparkling pool with a refreshing drink in hand, or immerse themselves in the tranquility of the beautiful surroundings at Tau’s wellness spa. The extensively trained therapists provide a wide range of treatments to help guests to relax and unwind.1
The Cubz Club is especially welcomed by families visiting during school holidays.Kids are invited to join the club where they are taken on their own private game drives and entertained with treasure hunts, and arts and crafts activities. The children are provided with their own Cubz Club backpacks containing fun items such as a wildlife activity booklet, which includes an animal sticker checklist, a deputy ranger sticker badge and certificate, (signed off by their personal ranger) as well as a special Tau T-shirt.
The Club provides parents with the opportunity to enjoy some adult safari time, safe in the knowledge that the kids are well taken care of, as well as stimulated and entertained.
A playroom is also reserved for children’s arts and crafts and other supervised activities, while the lodge chef offers additional child-friendly food to complement the adult meals
Tau Game Lodge is an ideal conference venue with state of the art conference facilities that can seat up to 150 delegates. The centre offers specialist equipment designed with simple plug in and play options for all presentation needs.

Rooms:
Guest accommodation comprises thirty thatched, luxury chalets spread out in a U-formation on either side of the main lodge and connected to the lodge by well maintained brick pathways meandering through the trees and lush gardens. All the chalets offer excellent views of wildlife approaching the waterhole from the opposite bank.
20 Standard Chalets that are suitable for two adults and can be shared with one infant below the age of 2. One of these chalets has been modified with special fittings and is wheelchair friendly.
6 Deluxe Chalets are more spacious and can accommodate parents and children under 12 wishing to share the same room.
The Family Unit is made up of 2 Standard Chalets joined by a semi-interleading comfortable lounge area. This unit is suitable for two adults and two children (or four adults), and features a comfortable double bed in one bedroom and twin beds in the other.
The Family Suite consists of 2 adjacent Deluxe Chalets joined by a semi-interleading lounge area with a fireplace for chilly evenings. It is thus suitable for larger families of two adults and a maximum of four children below the age of 12 years.
