About Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge:
Tucked away on a hillside among huge boulders, under a grove of age-old Tamboti trees, lies Madikwe Hills.This exclusive wilderness safari destination is located in the heart of the Big 5 Madikwe Game Reserve and comprises the larger Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge and Little Madikwe Hills, a separate family-friendly camp..The lodge offers incredible views over an expansive bushveld area complete with active waterholes.
The thatched main lodge is large and spacious with an open-plan lounge with satellite TV, as well as a bar, wine cellar, library, and dining space.The lodge is beautifully appointed with the huge, gnarled trunks of Leadwood trees holding up the vaulted ceiling. The African- inspired decor and beautiful artwork are sure to make a lasting impression, as are the lamp-lit suspended wooden walkways that connect each suite to the main guest hub. The expansive viewing deck is the ideal spot for spotting wildlife making its way down to the waterhole for a drink, while the sparkling swimming pool is the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. For those guests who need to keep in touch with the outside world, there is a fixed line internet connection in the library and free Wi-Fi in the library and the lounge.

Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge offers guests accommodation in ten deluxe glass-fronted suites scattered across the hillside to ensure complete privacy. Each spacious thatched suite features a separate bedroom with a magnificent King-sized four-poster bed draped in mosquito netting, a comfortable sitting room with a large slate fireplace, a luxurious bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers, and a raised wooden deck with a plunge pool offering incredible views of the surrounding landscape. Additional facilities include air- conditioning, fans, and a fully-stocked bar fridge.
The Honeymoon Suite is set high up on the hill and features a sun deck on top of the bathroom roof with a day-bed, couch, table and chairs. The views of the bushveld and the waterhole in the distance are truly breathtaking.This is the only suite boasting an outside bath- which is tucked away in a private corner-perfect for a romantic soak under the stars! The plunge pool offers a very private feeling as it is surrounded by trees and rocks.
Little Madikwe Hills Private Camp lies some distance from the main Lodge. The Private Camp offers an ultra-luxurious self-contained two-bedroomed villa with the option of booking the ninth and tenth suites of the Private Game Lodge if necessary, making it ideal for family and group breakaways of four to eight guests, of all ages.
Madikwe Hills provides guests plenty of opportunities to explore the spectacular biodiversity of the Big 5 Madikwe Game Reserve. Activities include early morning and late afternoon drives in 4X4 safari vehicles, led by experienced guides who willingly share their knowledge and passion for the African wilderness with their guests. In addition, guests can enjoy nature trails, birdwatching excursions, and photographic safaris, all in the company of the expert guides.
For even more exciting personal bushveld encounters, guests can reserve a private couple’s safari. And younger guests are bound to enjoy Madikwe Hills’ interactive Junior Ranger Programme which is designed to be entertaining and instill in them an appreciation of nature through a number of fun outdoor adventures.
Guests can look forward to delicious meals, freshly prepared from the finest locally sourced and imported ingredients, and paired with the finest South African wines. The villa boasts two en-suite King bedrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers.The comfortable sitting room, dining area, and state-of- the-art kitchen all open onto an expansive wooden deck complete with sunbeds, and a large swimming pool where guests can enjoy the utter tranquility of Madikwe Game Reserve undisturbed. (Guests may even be fortunate enough to see some elephant action at the waterhole below the camp)
Extra amenities include a Venetian bath in the master suite, mosquito nets, air-conditioning, fans, multiple fireplaces, and a small, but satisfactory wine selection.
